June 2025

Theatre, Mini-Golf, and Dinner

A group of us enjoyed "My Fair Lady" at The Round, Whitehorse Civic Centre

(No photography allowed!)

There were some great shots and, of course, disasters with balls heading for the sand pits, over the edge of the ‘fairways’ and even into the water features. There were three holes in one (in the right hole anyway). Laughter and shouts of triumph were heard at frequent intervals.

As we neared the end the clouds thickened and the wind returned, making us very glad to head to the warm Club House for hot drinks and a chat.

One comment was how good it was to get out and be active in winter, many were about returning to the Golf Course with grandkids and booking another Probus vist to the course.

This month's highlight was a trip away to the Blue Mountains in NSW.

Activities in March included a tour of the Duldig Studio and Gallery in Malvern.

November 2024

Club members relived their childhoods this month with a trip on Puffing Billy.

On a sunny, blue sky Friday, 38 members of the Glen Waverley Combined Probus Club drove to Lakeside near Emerald ready to board the steam train to Gembrook. We had our own open carriage to board and were given instructions for the trip. The intrepid amongst the group pulled themselves up on the ledge so they could dangle their legs over the side while the rest sat on the seats or stood.

October is Probus Month - time to be a little bit silly and/or creative in blue and yellow.

Each year we have "best dressed for Probus" competition. Some are creative, some are crazy, all are yellow and blue.

Forty-one members, that's about a third of the club, enjoyed a few days at Warrnambool - some in our caravans and some in on-site cabins.

There was so much to do in Warrnambool area. Some places were explored in an organised group activity and others were visited individually or in small groups.

And who could resist a visit to the Maremmas who protect the local penquins from predators?
